Assistant Company Secretary

Purpose Statement

  • To coordinate and manage all company secretarial and corporate governance matters so that all regulatory and compliance requirements are met.

Experience

Minimum:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Assistant Company Secretary/Company Secretary with exposure to JSE listing requirements.
  • Experience gained in at least one of the following environments: banking, listings, insurance is preferred
  • People Management experience would be advantageous

Qualification (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 National Certificate/Vocational
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (i.e. Law, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce)

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • A relevant post graduate degree in Finance or Law
  • Registered as a Chartered Secretary with Institute for Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA)

Knowledge

Minimum:

  • Detailed knowledge of the Companies Act, Banks Act, and JSE listings requirements and market accepted corporate governance principles
  • Stakeholder management
  • Governance, administration and finance principles
  • Relationship building techniques
